Lets face it, cats love to eat as much as people do. Cat owners have mixed opinions on cat treats. Some people like to make their own nutritious cat treats for their pets while others are not so sure if homemade cat treats or homemade cat treat recipes are such a good idea. Many people use cat toys and treats as a way to reward their cat for good behavior in much the same way that dogs are rewarded for good behavior. Many cat treat recipes can be found over the Internet so do a search to find some healthy cat treat recipes that involve making liver treats for cats and so on. A homemade cat recipe might include chicken, beef or fish. You might even add some cheese such as cheddar cheese, or Parmesan cheese and your cat treats might be composed of yogurt or cornmeal. Remember that most cats love tuna so cat treats that are homemade cat treat recipes would definitely be one way to go.
Some people are tempted to give their cat treats such as human food. While this is okay occasionally be aware that not all food that is good for people is healthy for cats as our digestive systems are vastly different, There are also many additives that are included in "people food" that could prove dangerous to the digestive system of a cat. Cats can develop liver or kidneys problems very easily because theses organs do not detoxify as readily as do the liver and kidneys of dogs and even people.
A small portion of cooked boneless beef, cooked boneless chicken, cooked brown rice or even a cooked egg is okay to five as a cat treat occasionally but the operative word is "occasionally." If you give your cat a small piece of fish double check that it is deboned and never give your cat anything that has spices on it or oil. Your cat may adore the taste of canned tuna as a type of cat treat but be aware that there is a great deal of mercury in canned tuna and sometimes a base of oil and neither are beneficial for a cat to eat too much of.
Cat treats should always be served at room temperature, as that is the way that cats like it as opposed to people who like to eat warm or hot foods. Table scraps are okay if you are aware of what can and cannot harm your cat. When considering making homemade cat treat recipes speak to your veterinarian about what is permissible for your cat. Cats should never be fed chocolate, anything with caffeine in it or alcohol, products made with corn, onions, raw eggs, nuts, bones (both cooked and raw are definite no nos because of the concern that they will splinter once eaten) and a multitude of other types of foods.
