The Russian Blue Cat is a very unique feline that has a medium sized lean body with a fur coat that is short, plush and blue in color. Russian Blue cats and Russian Blue kittens have a very unique coat that is double in nature, with the undercoat part being downy and soft and the longer guard like type hairs being a blue color with tips that are silver. It is the "tipping" aspect that gives the Russian Blue cat a shimmery and shiny appearance. The eyes of as Blue Russian cat are green and most often a dark, vivid kind of green. The contrast of the bluish gray coat and bright dark green eyes gives the Russian Blue mix cat quite a striking appearance. These imperfections include yellow eyes, dark banding on the tail and white patches on the underside of their stomachs. Russian Blue cats are very smart felines who are happy go lucky cats and are playful and relaxed. A Russian Blue cat and Russian Blue kitten has a tendency to be hesitant and shy when it comes to strange people. Russian Blue cats are loving and loyal companions and bond well with human beings.

The Russian Blue cat is sometimes referred to as the Archangel Blue. If you spoke with Russian Blue cat breeders they could give you some history about cats worthy of a Russian Blue cat calendar. Both during World War II and afterwards there were a minimum of Russian Blue cats so the ones that were around were cross bred with Siamese cats. This has since gone by the wayside and most of the Siamese traits are no longer obvious in modern day Russian Blue cats. Most of the breeding of Russian Blues takes place in the United States.
Considered true Russian cats, these shorthaired blue cats have been featured in Russian Blue cat calendars in the year 2005. If giving a home to a Russian Blue cat appeals to you then look up Russian blue cats for sale over the Internet.
