Siamese Cat

The Siamese cat is a fascinating breed of feline that is attractive and has a fantastic personality and temperament Siamese kittens are cute as a button and they grow into very attractive Siamese cats who make friendly, loving, affectionate loyal companions who are very smart, social lands extremely oriented towards people. The Siamese cat can be active but it also has a laidback, relaxed manner about it which makes a Siamese or cat an excellent choice of pet if you live in an apartment as opposed to a house.

There are seal point Siamese cats which means that their points are a very deep dark brown color, akin to black while some Siamese kittens are born with blue points that are close to a cool grey color. There are also Siamese felines with chocolate or light brown points, or lilac points, which are the color of pale and warm gray or are genetically considered to be a diluted form of chocolate.

The most distinctive characteristic about a Siamese cat is its voice which can be very loud but always expresses the cat’s mood and wants. Some people enjoy the behavior of the Siamese cat while others find it annoying.

The Siamese cat is recognized by cat breeders as an Oriental cat although its exact origins according to the history of the Siamese cat are not known. It is believed to come from Southeast Asia and be a descendant from the temple cats of Siam (today is Thailand) that were believed to be sacred. Thailand has a number of native breeds, including the Siamese cat and this particular breed is referred to as Wichien-maat in Thailand, which means “Moon diamond.” As the 20th century emerged Siamese cats became high up on the list of popular cat breeds for people living in North America and the European countries.

Siamese cat names are easy to come by over the Internet and so are the names of Siamese cat clubs and the different types of Siamese cats. Siamese cats are extroverted animals but tend to be less active than other breeds of cats, which make them good choices for senior citizens looking for pets. Siamese cat health problems are related to their ears which have a diminished ability to hear as opposed to other cat breeds and the fact that their lovely blue eyes are lacking in a substance called tapetum lucidum, which aids in dimming light in the eyes for other cat breeds.
